Biography

Robert Jindra was born in 1977 in Prague, where he studied singing and conducting at the Conservatory.
Robert Jindra has worked with the National Theatre in Prague for many years. Further engagements have taken him to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich (Rusalka - Dvorak), Graz Opera, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, the Norwegian Opera in Oslo (Ariadne auf Naxos - Strauss, Jenufa - Janacek) and the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (La Juive - Halévy, The Bartered Bride - Smetana, La Traviata -Verdi).


Jindra works with many orchestras such as the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic or State Philharmonic Košice and Essen Philharmonic, among others.
From the 2018/2019 to the 2020/ 2021 season, Robert Jindra was 1st Kapellmeister at the Aalto Musiktheater and Philharmonie Essen, where he conducted the opera Medea (Reimann), Ring in one evening (Wagner), Tosca (Puccini), Carmen (Bizet) and other works with an extraordinary success.

 

Since September 2021, Robert Jindra is the chief conductor of the Košice State Philharmonic Orchestra, and in September 2022 he took over the post of music director of the National Theatre in Prague.
The young conductor recently celebrated successes at the Bavarian State Opera with Rusalka (Dvorak) and Das schlaue Füchslein; at Graz Opera with Schwanda, der Dudelsackpfeifer (Weinberger) and at the Oslo Opera with Jenufa (Janacek).
