Biography

Ukrainian bass Ivan Lyvch, aged 23, studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under the guidance of Dagmar Podkamenská Bezačinská. He also graduated from the opera studio of Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava.

Since 2023 he has been a soloist of the State opera in Banská Bystrica, where he has staged his profile roles: Sarastro (W.A. Mozart: Die Zauberflöte), Il Re d'Egitto (G.Verdi: Aida), Zuniga (G.Bizet: Carmen), Dottore Grenvile (G.Verdi: La Traviata) Zaretsky (P.I: Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin) and others. He also appeared as a guest at the Slovak National Theatre (Bratislava) as Zuniga (Carmen) and Talbot (Maria Stuarda).

In 2025, he participated in the prestigious International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, where he advanced to the final round and received four special prizes from Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Wexford Festival Opera, and Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden.
He completed singing master classes with Mariusz Kwiecień, Franz Hawlata, Peter Mikuláš, Dalibor Jenis, Pavel Breslík, Margreet Honig and others.

In the season 2025/26 he’s looking forward to the debut of Figaro (W.A.Mozart: Le Nozze di Figaro) at the State opera in Banská Bystrica and in the Slovak national theatre in Bratislava, as well as the debut of Old Hebrew (Samson et Dalila)
